Discoveries – Andrew Prokos

Andrew Prokos, skylines, cityscapes and landscapes

Andrew is a photographer based in New York City who specialises in architectural location and fine art photography. Prokos has worked on numerous assignments and commissions for clients in advertising, publishing, design, real estate, government and corporate art.

His photographs have been published in many magazines and corporate annuals and are also featured in printed product lines sold in the USA and Europe.

We are huge fans of Prokos’ work. Capturing glorious landscapes of famous and infamous sites, we think Prokos captures the beauty of the world in his images. These images have a serene quality to them, the nature intertwined with the city scape allows the beauty of the nature to complement the city.

Discoveries – Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams, Photographer, Conservationist

“At one with the power of theAmerican landscape, and renowned for the patient skill and timeless beauty of his work, photographer Ansel Adams has been a visionary in his efforts to preserve this country’s wild and scenic areas, both on film and on Earth. Drawn to the beauty of nature’s monuments, he is regarded by environmentalists as a monument himself, and by photographers as a national institution. It is through his foresight and fortitude that so much of America has been saved for future Americans.”

President James E. Carter
Presenting Ansel Adams with the Presidential Medal of Freedom

We love these photos for their natural beauty. Adams manages to capture the beauty of nature with very little to no digital enhancement. His serene pictures demonstrate the glory of nature and the world and we love it! The monochromatic images highlight the detail of nature even more as you focus on the objects in the images rather than their colours which we find mesmerising. The heavy contrast in his images often makes them appear depressing or haunted as the magnitude of the main subject matter is magnified such as the mountains or close up of the rose.

Fashion Photographers

Hey guys!

We’ve been hearing some rumours that all our fashion photographers feel left out so were featuring a few here!

To all our models out there feel free to contact us about our awesome photographers or if you wish to be featured!

Jason Christopher

Christopher is a fashion photographer based here in sunny LA.

This is one of his many fashion and beauty photographs. He has been the photographer for many advertising campaigns and been featured in numerous magazines including Marie Claire and Vogue.

At Photography Productions we love his use of the land. Shooting outdoors increases the interest in the image. We also love how the girls in the image have been edited to look like Barbie dolls. Don’t worry girls, these models don’t actually look like this!

Richard Warren

Richard Warren is an internationally published fashion photographer based in Manhattan. Warren was born in Houston Texas. The works featured here are part of his personal collection. He has assisted many great photographers in his life such as Helmut Newton (featured in one of our earlier blogs), Denis Piel and Bill king.

We love how he has shot in such a dark setting and used the hair so effectively. These photos are so interesting due to their colour scheme. The dark greens and greys compliment the jungle look achieved through the sticks and hair pieces. He may have been in a dark mood expressed through his colour scheme. What ever it was, were loving it!

These fashion photographers bring their own sense of style to the images. Creating interest in their images using different settings and effects such as the hair pieces and copious amounts of photoshop.

Let us know if you have a burning desire to see something in our next post and stay tuned for more…

Annie Leibovitz – featured artist

Hey guys,

Here is some work from and information about our featured artist of the week, Annie Leibovitz!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Annie Leibovitz has photographed musicians, actors, and writers since the early 1970s. She has captured some of the most enduring images of our time and was recently commissioned to take photographs for Disney parks. This stellar collection of photographs include Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen from Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs along with Alec Baldwin as the magic mirror, Penelope Cruz as bell and Jeff Bridges as the prince from Beauty and the Beast, Jennifer Lopez as Jasmine and Marc Anthony as Aladdin, David Beckham as the prince from Sleeping Beauty, Rachel Weisz as Snow White, Scarlett Johansson as Cindarella and Queen Latifah as Ursla from The Little Mermaid. We found these photographs enchanting and hope you do too!

Annie Leibovitz is known for her portraits, these pictures she did for Disney are our favourites because they take you back to a time of innocence, using famous faces to restore your favourite Disney characters. At Photography Productions we are huge fans of her Disney images! Who doesn’t want to be a princess or prince at some stage in their lives! These images transport you to a time when you were young and allow you to revisit your favourite movies in a synoptic image. She has also used copious amounts of digital enhancement to make the images look like paintings when in reality they are photographs. We believe these are some of her best work. In all honesty, as much as we love these image of Leibovitz’s the main reason she took on the job was her bankruptcy and hence need for financial reimbursement for her work. We think these images are great, but do not condone selling out for money to make art.

Check these out!

Hey guys!

Found some funky videos featuring our fave photographers working their stuff! Check them out!

Helmut Newton making magic

This movie depicts Helmut Newton positioning a model to get the perfect shot, his compositions are very precise and detailed so every movement and angle counts!  Love this movie because it shows how much detail goes into every shot of Newtons. Its pretty hard to take a good picture and get it exactly right, we like this cause it shows how much effort goes into every single shot! Helmut is one of the world’s best photographers, he changed photography in the world with his controversial images at the time which is one of the best things about him. Photographers are best when they challenge the status quo and go outside the realm of the ‘normal’, all our featured artists do this and it is what we look for in all photography.

David Lachapelle’s Armani Jeans advertisement video

David lachapelle was asked to make an advertisement video for Armani Jeans. We love it and hope you do too! (Warning for the conservatives, it is a bit out there!) This advertisement is sooo LaChapelle! The colours, movements, themes, all of it is so outrageous! We love it. Like Newton, LaChapelle’s images are often wacky and outside the normal bounds of society. Mocking famous figures and using copious amounts of colour and symbolism is what makes LaChapelle so great.

Annie Leibovitz Disney Images

Annie Leibovitz was commissioned to take photographs for Disney Parks. This website will show you some of the shots she took featuring our favourite actors and actresses! We shall be featuring her soon in our featured artist section! These photos are great, loving the fantasy! Check them out!

Here at Photography Productions we are all about artists and their work! We promote the free viewing of all art, specialising in photography. For any and all artists out their we hope you like what you see here! The artists we have featured are infamous in the photographic industry for their creativity and their various methods that they use to push the boundaries and break the conventional rules.

David LaChapelle – featured artist

Hey guys!

Get excited! Its our second featured artist of the week – David LaChapelle

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

David LaChapelle’s photography career began in the 1980’s in NYC. Andy Warhol (his hero) and the editors of Interview Magazine offered him his first professional photography job. At Interview Magazine LaChapelle quickly began photographing some of the most famous faces of the time. His images have appeared in and on magazines such as Italian Vogue, French Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Rolling Stone and i-D. He has photographed personalities such as Eminem, Madonna, Tupac, Lil’ Kim, Uma Thurman, David Beckham, Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hillary Clinton, Muhammad Ali, Britney Spears and many more! He has recently expanded his territory to include music videos, live theatrical events and documentary film.

We here at Photography Productions love him and his quirky ways and hope you do too!! His photos are crazy and wild! Using colour and seriously weird poses or backgrounds and props, he creates these awesome images! We love the colour and craziness, his ideas are out there and imaginative and yet help depict the personality of those that he is photographing. Honestly one of our favourite artists of all time. His modern and crazy images are what we love here. The bright colours and contrasts are our favourites!

Helmut Newton – featured artist

Hey fans,

Here is our first ‘featured artist of the week’ – Helmut Newton!

We will be posting ‘featured artists’ on our site every week so keep an eye out!

I hate good taste. It’s the worst thing that can happen to a creative person.”

Helmut Newton is a famous photographer of fashion and woman. Born in Berlin, Germany in 1920 and of German-Jewish decent was forced to move to China by 1938. It was there that Newton got his first job interning at a portrait photograph company. He then traveled to Australia, joined the army and got married and had his first exhibit in 1958. Helmut is one of our older photographers that we are featuring in our blog because his work had a dramatic effect on the fashion and photography industries. He often objectified woman and established his own particular stye of photography that had never been seen before, featuring racy poses and subtexts, Newton shocked the world. We love people who shock and affect others in ways never before seen. Newton’s objectivity of women astounded and stunned the world. A lot of his images are a bit too racy for our website but are still well loved by all staff on Photography Productions, if not due to the image itself, due to its symbolism of changing the way we look at images and the whole fashion and photographic industries.
